JoAnn Price Coffman, 26 Jun 1937 - 26 jun 2019

Jo Ann Price Coffman, 82, went to be with the Lord on June 26, 2019 after an extended illness.

She was born on June 26, 1937 in Johnson City, TN and had resided in Kingsport, TN the majority of her adult life. Jo Ann graduated from Science Hill High School in 1956 and received a B.S. degree from East Tennessee State University in 1960. She taught English at John Sevier Junior High School for 12 years and kindergarten for 18 years in Sullivan County at Holston Elementary School before retiring from Miller Perry Elementary School. Jo Ann was an active, devoted member of her church, Beulah Baptist, where she enjoyed serving the Lord by working with and teaching children, which was her life’s passion. In her retirement she loved traveling locally and enjoying time with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Ruby Price. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband and best friend of 55 years, Hugh Coffman; her daughter, Katie Coffman; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lee and Wilma Coffman; sister-in-law, Marie Parker; nephew, Edward Coffman and wife, Judy; nephew, Steve Coffman and wife, Linda; niece, Cathy Elliott and husband, Walter; niece, Ruth Fields and husband, Mike; nephew, Darrell Coffman and wife, Jill; nephew, Andrew Coffman and wife, Erin; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and special “fur baby”, Louie.

She will be greatly missed by a host of friends. A special thank you to the wonderful caregivers and staff of Brookdale Rock Springs who cared for and loved her. Thank you to the hospice nurses from Amedisys for their care and comfort in these last weeks.

Receiving of friends will take place on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Beulah Baptist Church from 11:30 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Al South and Evangelist Charles “Toonie” Cash officiating along with Andrew Coffman and Wallace Nelms worshiping in song. Graveside service will immediately follow at East Tennessee Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Drew Coffman, Steve Coffman, Mike Fields, Bryan Hodgson, Darrell Coffman, Edward Coffman, and Walter Elliott.
